Former CM Virbhadra Singh gets three day mourning

After fighting with a prolong disease, CM Virbhadra Singh dies in Shimla in wee hours on Thursday. He left the world at the age of 84. Hence, the Himachal Pradesh announces on Friday a three day state mourning, from July 8 to July 10.

This is done in honor of the great leader Virbhadra Singh.  A person who holds an important place in Himachal Pradesh politics. Inclusion to this there shall be no official entertainment during the Mourning period as per the official statement. According to the news agency PTI, he was suffering from a prolong illness.

He breathes his last at the India Gandhi Medical College Hospital around 4 am in morning. The doctors in statement say the reason of his death is multi organ failure. Sadly, he had been tested positive for Corona virus on April 12 after which he was admitted to Max hospital in Chandigarh.

However, after recovering from his infection he returned to his home at Shimla. But he soon he was again admitted to hospital post breathing issues. He remains on ventilator for two days as per his close sources.

Political journey of Virbhadra Singh

Popularly known as “Raja Sahib” as an honor to him. He has the privilege to serve Himachal Pradesh for the longest period. Moreover, he was in power from year 2012 to 2017. Interestingly he serves as CM from 1983 to 1990, from 1993 to 1998 and from 2003 to 2007.

Inclusion to this he was an elected member of LOK sabha in 1962, 1967, 1971, 1980 and 2009. Plus, he is also a MLA from Arki constituency and a member of the Indian National Congress. An eminent personality whose life is an inspiration for his countrymen.

He was born on 23 June 1934 at Saharan Punjab (now in Himachal Pradesh). His schooling was done at Bishop Cotton School, Shimla. Further he got admitted in college name St.Stephen College at Delhi. Here he had a educational qualification of BA ( Hons).

The name of his wife is “Rajkumari Rattan” who died on 27 September 1983. While his second wife is a politician name,” Pratibha Singh”. He has four children with his wives.

Flair controversies surrounding Virbhadra Singh

He is a leader who thoroughly enjoys a mass appeal and an era ended in Himachal Pradesh with his death.  Moreover, he was a politician having an amazing fighting spirit. However, many would label him of being dictatorial in his functioning.

However, he has a larger than life persona that helps him tackle any challenge coming towards him. Though he has a fair amount of controversies in his lap in whole political career. The CBI charge him leading to loss to exchequer by misrepresent ting unaccounted money.

Moreover, he alleged to have assets of over 10 crore disproportionate to his income between 2009 and 2011. He was even arrested by ED (enforcement Directorate) in a money laundering case. Inclusion to this the CBI has even raided his house “Holly Lodge” in Shimla on day of his daughter wedding.

Even his wife and son are being grilled on basis of various allegations. In his over half a century long political career he faces electoral defeat only on two occasions. He tastes defeat at hand of former CM Ram Lal Thakur in year 1990.

Including to this he also lost to Ganga Singh of the Janata Party in year 1977 from Mandi. Still he is a man of great persona larger than life.

Indomitable fighter till his end of life

He is one of the longest serving chief minister of India. A leading senior Congress leader in HIMACHAL Pradesh. Moreover, he has announced that this will be his last election. His death marks an end of an era. Everyone would accept him as an indomitable spirit having immense endurance power.

People often address him with a slogan, “ Raja nahin fakir hai, Himachal Pradesh ki takdir hai”. Popularly known as “ Raja” by common people. No doubt he remain a grassroot leader till his death. Even his rivals too admire his fighting spirits.

Better known for his trait to bounce back against all adversities he lived a great life. Today even party in opposite is sad with his sudden demise. Condolences are mourning from worldwide. JP Nadda, a BJP President mourns his death, “it is shocking to hear his death of a charismatic leader who was admire across the party lines. Though we differ politically still we have much regard for him”.

His contribution to the state in terms of development is commendable. In fact it’s a big loss to the state. Nonetheless he serves his entire life for the upliftment of the society. He made special attention to the on weaker and vulnerable sections.

We will always remember him for his strong will power, commitment. He is a true epitome of inspiration for all of us. Moreover, he has attained a significant name in Himachal Pradesh politics.
