Introduction
Lakme Fashion Week is organised 2 times every year. Its first event takes place in Summer during March or April and another takes place in Winter during August. This yearly event lasts for a week and is held in Mumbai.
In this event, Many international and Indian designers showcase their latest designs. Different actresses play showstoppers to show these designs.
Sponsors for this event are Lakme, which is title sponsor for the event, RISE Worldwide (Formerly IMG Reliance) and Fashion Design Council of India. In this article you will know about some highlights of this year’s event and showstoppers for the event.
About Lakme Fashion Week 2021
Lakme Fashion Week 2021 was organised this year from 16 March, 2021 to 21st March,2021 for the Summer season. It was organized in a joint manner. Sponsors for this event were Lakme, which is title sponsor for the event, RISE Worldwide (Formerly IMG Reliance) and Fashion Design Council of India.
The specially designed “Unity logo” was Logo for this respective event. It started with Opening event on 16 march and ended with a Grand Finale on 21 march. Besides this, various designers from Mumbai, Delhi and across India participated in it.

Opening Show
Lakme Fashion Week 2021 started with a bang. It was a breathtaking opening show. Kolkata based famous Fashion designer Anamika Khanna started its opening event. Her collection was an amazing one to start with this 5 days event. Also, she expressed high gratitude to the sponsors for allowing her to participate in such a glorious event. It created a high impact on other famous fashion designers.
She named her collection “Timeless the world”. She had explained her collection as a mix of feelings of emotions and a tribute to Indian heritage. It was an eye catching combination of art and textiles. Besides this, the respective collection will let you feel casual comfort and luxurious fashion. It may surely create a trend in the future.
Day 1
Day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week 2021 showed following designers-
- First one was the Launch of 2 fantastic GenNext designers Rahul Dasgupta and Wajahat Rather. Wajahat showcased Indian contemporary style in its designs whereas Dasgupta showed beautiful designs of fabrics in its men’s wear.
- Next was Design Bloni by famous designer Akshat Bansal. It showed a fabulous fusion of traditional style with Marine plastic waste textile. Also, he first time experimented with Marine plastic waste textile.
- Designer Arpita Mehta showed her designs like Pre stitched sarees, Mirror work and ruffled blouses through her digital show in the event. These designs were eye catching for everyone in the event.
- Other designs were Geisha collection by Designers Shalini and Paras and Kaliedo collection by Pankaj and Nidhi
- Besides this, next collection in the event was SN Safari by Designers Shantanu and Nikhil.
Day 2
Day 2 of Lakme Fashion Week 2021 was regarded as Ethical and Sustainable Day. This is because it showed eco friendly designs.
These include-
- Vegan Designs by PETA India with famous celebrities Ankita Konwar and Milind Soman
- Next were the latest designs by label Cocccon. They showed garments made from eco friendly materials. As a result having no bad impact on the environment.
- R|Elan showed 6 circular designs. They represented designs made from recycled and environment friendly materials.
- Next designs were different ethical fashion designs by Sohaya Misra of label Chola, Huemn design by Pranav Mishra and Shyam Shetty and collection by Gaurav Khanjio of label Khanjio
- Besides this, other designs were “View with a Room” collection by Payal Pratap and Spring Summer 2021 eco friendly collection by famous fashion designer Ritu Kumar.
Day 3
It showed following spectacular designs from Fashion designs-
- First was amazing Jewelry designs by Natural Diamond Council
- Next were The Gypsy’s Wife collection from Nidhi Yasha, Summer 21 collection from Masaba and The Hive collection from P.E.L.L.A
- Besides other designs were An ode to our Mother’s garden by Gauri and Nainika, Outright by AJIO and Latest “50 Shades of Happiness collection by Suneet Verma.
Day 4- Second last day of Lakme Fashion Week 2021
It was a fabulous one than previous days. It showed latest collections of –
- Nimrooha and Limerick, New Born collection by Samant Chauhan and 3D embroidery collection by Nitin Bal Chauhan.
- Other collections include collections from Siddartha Tyler and Payal Singhal.
- Besides the above collections, the most eye catching collection of the Day 4 was “Nooriyat” collection by Fantastic designer Manish Malhotra.

Highlights of the “Nooriyat” design by Manish Malhotra
- It showed shimmering designs including lehengas with dainty blouses, ball room gowns all with gold and silver shimmers.
- This latest collection was splendid and spectacular for the event.
- Gorgeous Kiara Advani and Dashing Kartik Aaryan turned showstoppers for the new collection by Manish Malhotra.
- They both looked beautiful in this latest collection as they walked down the ramp.
- Kiara Advani was as usual looking glorious in silver shimmery lehnga with smokey eye makeup. Also her classy bun and nude shade lipstick was eye catching for everyone. Besides this, Kartik Aryan looked handsome and charming in Black Indo Western suit.
- They both created a buzz at the second last day of Lakme Fashion Week 2021.
Day 5- Lakme Absolute Grand Finale of Lakme Fashion Week 2021
Last day of this 5 day event showed a splendid collection “Ready Set Play” by Designer Ruchika Sachdeva. This collection showed simplicity and elegance. Bollywood Newbie Actress Ananya Pandey played as Showstopper for the designer. She wore a colour blocked crop top and midi skirt of her collection. She looked stunning as usual wearing the collection. Besides this, she looked very delighted and excited on wearing this respective collection.
