People celebrate three types of Teej during the year. These include Hariyali, Hartalika Teej and Kajari Teej. One of them is Hariyali Teej. Married women celebrate it in the Shravan month. More particularly on the Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Shravan month.  It is also called as Shravan Teej because it falls in the Shravan month. 

There is also another reason for celebrating it in the month of Shravan. This is that, people worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati in the whole Shravan month. So people call it Hariyali Teej. Another name for this Teej is Choti Teej. This year married women will celebrate it on 11th August, 2021, i.e. Wednesday.

1.As it occurs in Shravan month, there is a big significance of Green color. That is the reason women dress beautifully in green color suits, dresses and bangles on this day. 

2.On this day, women fast for the whole day without water for their long life and well being of husband. 

3.After dressing beautifully, applying henna on palms and Alta on feets, they worship Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. 

4.Besides this, mother in laws gift their sister in laws gifts, jewelry, henna, sweets and clothes. They give these gifts before 1 day of Hariyali Teej. Sinjara is the day when mother in law give gifts. 

5.On the day of Hariyali Teej too, daughter- in laws give gifts to mother in law gifts and have their blessings on the auspicious day. 

6.Also, Women enjoy in the greenery, swing and sing folk songs on this sacred festival.

Significance of Green Color

It falls in the Shravan month, and Haryali literally means greenery. So due to this, women wear green colored dresses and bangles to celebrate this festival. Green color is considered as a very sacred color on this day when connected to name of the festival.

This festival is basically for married women and their happily married life. On this day, married women worship Goddess Parwati and Lord Shiva. 3.For worship, recite Shodash Upchar . It includes 16 long steps rituals. 

4.Also, make sure that your house is properly cleaned. You can also decorate your house for festive reasons.

5.Besides this, this workship lasts whole night in which women sings folk songs and music throughout night.
