PM Modi Inaugurates Rashtriya Swachhata Kendra: A Vision for Cleaner India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates an interactive experience center that is ‘Rashtriya Swachhata Kendra’ on Saturday in New Delhi. It is a continuation of the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’. In this regard, PM Modi labeled the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ or the cleanliness drive as a great boon to the fight against Corona Virus. The idea of Rashtriya Swachhata Kendra (RSK) first came into the picture on 10th April 2017 during the occasion of the centenary celebration of Gandhiji’s Champaran Satyagraha. It is meant as a tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. He subsequently watched a short video on ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ at the Rashtriya Swachhata Kendra.

  “The installations at RSK will introduce future generations to the successful journey of the world’s largest behavior change campaign, the Swachh Bharat Mission.”, a statement issued by the PMO said. The PMO also said, “A balanced mix of digital and outdoor installations in the  Rashtriya Swachhata Kendra will impart information, awareness, and education on Swachhata and related aspects. The interplay of processes will be presented through assimilative learning, success stories, and thematic messages in an interactive format.”

Details of  the Occasions:

On Saturday, PM Modi took a tour around the Rashtriya Swachhata Kendra which is situated near Raj Ghat, the samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi. He did an interactive session with 36 school students. They came from all the 36 states and union territories across the country. The interactive session held at the amphitheater.

 

He was quite satisfied that the students were duly following the precautionary measures. They were all maintaining social distancing norms and wearing masks properly to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

“We all are a part of the campaign now, ‘Gandagi, Bharat Chorho’. I am glad that all of us, including the children, present here, are following social distancing norms and wearing masks, to control the spread of Covid-19.”, he told while addressing the students. During his speech, he took a minute and spoke about the ideologies of the Great Mahatma Gandhi and his values. He also pointed out that the entire world was now coming together to follow the path of the legend.

“The whole world is coming forward to adopt the values and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. Last year when we celebrated Gandhiji’s 150th birth anniversary, that was unprecedented. Singers of different countries learned and sung his favorite song ‘Vaishnav Jan To’”, he added.

Legacy:

PM Modi praised the effort of the children altogether. He also said that their role in the cleanliness drive is a great contribution to the fight against the coronavirus. The Prime Minister also drew a parallel with the 1942 Quit India Movement. He depicted that the initiatives for the past six years against the use of plastic, against corruption, terrorism is quite synonymous with the ‘Bharat Chhodo’ mission. These malign must leave the country as soon as possible. We should promote cleanliness upfront for the betterment of these missions.

On this grand event, PM Modi announced a week-long campaign that will come into action from August 8 to August 15 with a vision to make our country free of garbage.
