WORLD’S TOP 10 SCI-FI MOVIES

The world cinema has produced some of the very fine sci fi movies of all time. Sometimes it is treated apparantly as movies loved by kids. The more narrow outlook of our kind takes it to a level where the viewers find themselves as alienated to watch the fiction with the perspective of the makers. A TRIP TO THE MOON (1902) was one of the most talked about and successful movies in the early 20th century’s period. Later in the middle of 1950s the movies with scary stuff of aliens and extra terrestrial and earthly monsters got famous. Later, movies such as A SPACE ODYSSEY (2001) gave the audience a new kind of science fiction movie which rose the level of such movies.

  1. STAR WARS : EMPIRE SRIKES BACK

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK is popularly known as STAR WARS : EPISODE V : EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (1980) which was an American film. It was produced by Gary Kurtz, directed by Irvin Kershner and written by George Lucas. The movie is a sequel of the previouly released movie which was also a great success. This movie was the highest earning movie of the 1980s and it has been regarded as one of the greatest movies.

Metropolis (1927) was a german science fiction film which was directed by Fritz Lang and it was written by Thia Von Harbou. This film was produced by Erich Pommer. This movie was a silent movie was of its kind the greatest movie of its time. The movie stars Alfred Abel, Brigitte Helm, Gustav Frohlic and Rudolf Klein Rogge.

THE BRIDE OF FRANKSTEIN (1935) was an American sci fi movie. It was a sequel to the movie FRANKSTEIN which was released in 1931. This movie was regarded as a better movie than its previous sequel FRANKSTEIN. It was produced by Carl Laemmle Jr. and directed by James Whales. This movie was written by William Hurlbut and John L Balderston. The cast included were Boris Karloff, Colin Clive, Velerie Hobson, Elsa Lanchester, Ernest Thesiger and E E Clive.

The movie 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY was released in 1968. This science fiction film was produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick. It was written by Kubrick and Arthur. C. Clarke. The movie is about an adventure to the planet Jupiter which is about robots, artificial intelligence and presence of extra terrestrial beings. The movie casts Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood. This movie has been regarded aa the most influential movie of all times.

The movie ALIEN was released in the year1979. This science fiction movie was produced by Gardon Carroll, David Giller and Walter Hill. It was directed and written by Ridley Scott and Dan O’ Bannon respectively. The movie stars Tom Skerritt, Sigourney weaver, Veronica Cartwright, Hary Dean Stanton, John Hurt, Ian Holm and Yaphet Kotto. The movie is about an aggressive alien who loss control over his spaceship. This movie has been regarded has the seventh best film in its category till date and has won many awards.

The movie BLADE RUNNER was released in the year 1982. It was produced by Michael Deeley and directed by Ridley Scott. The story was written by Hampton Francher and David Peoples. The movie stars Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young and Edward James Olmos. The movie was initially not praised by the audience but later on it became a huge earning movie which influenced many other science fiction movies.

The movie BRAZIL was released in 1985. It was produced by Arnon Milchan and directed by Terry Gilliam. The story was written by Terey Gilliam, Tom Stoppad and Charles McKeown. The movie stars Jonathan Pryce, Robert D Niro, Katherine Helmond, Ian Holm, Bob Hoskins, Michael Palin, Ian Richardson, Peter Vaughan and Kim Greist. The film revolves around a man who tries to find a woman who appears in his dreams when he was endulged in a mind numbing work.

The movie stars Jeff Goldblum, Geena Davis and John Getz. THE FLY was a science fiction body scare movie which got praised for its special and visual effects and got praised by critics.

The movie JURASSIC PARK was released in the year 1993. This was produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Gerald R. Molen and directed by Steven Spielberg. The film is based on a novel and screenplayed by Michael Crichton and David Koepp. The movie shows a billionare philanthropist who creates a wildlife park of dinosaurs. The movie stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Richard Attenborough, Bob Peck, Martin Ferrero, BD Wong, Samuel L. Jackson, Wayne Knight, Joseph Mazzello and Ariana Richards.

The movie snowpiercer was released in the year 2013. It was a science fiction movie based on a French novel. The movie was produced by Jeong Tae sung, Steven Nam, Park Chan Wook and Lee Tae Hun. It was directed by Bong Joon Ho and screenplayed by Bong Joon Ho and Kelly Masterson. The movie stars Chris Evans, Song Kang Ho, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, Ewen Bremner, Ko Asung, John Hurt and Ed Harris. The movie was praised by many critics and listed amongst the top ten movies of 2014. It is known as the most expensive Korean production till date.
