Not first of all let us take you back to date 7 July 1981. The date when Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born. Ranchi, earlier in Bihar now the capital of Jharkhand was the place where MS Dhoni took birth. MS Dhoni family was lower middle class family. His father was a pump operator in Ranchi. He has one sister older than him. MS Dhoni sister supported him throughout his struggle period. Dhoni was fond of football in his early life but because of his school coach MS Dhoni started playing cricket.
Biography of MS Dhoni : Early Days in international Cricket:-
Ms Dhoni started his professional carrier as ticket collector. Ms Dhoni cricket carrier begin when he started playing for his school. He joined India Railways and started playing cricket for them. He has done lot of hard work in his initial days. At that time he have to manage both, his job and cricket. But all the his hard work bought success to him.
28 years before 2011, in 1983, India lifted the world cup for the first time. And since then it was dream for millions of Indians to relive the moment once again. Many captains came and lead India But neither of them was able to achieve this feat.
It was 23 December 2004 when a wicketkeeper batsman from Ranchi debuted for Indian cricket team although he got out for a duck in the first game against Bangladesh. But Saurav Ganguly, the captain of Indian team at that time, was very much confident about the potential of the new guy.
The name of the player was Mahendra Singh Dhoni. At that time nobody thought that Dhoni is going to achieve all the things for which every cricket fan dreamt. Saurav Ganguly in an interview said- “if you really want to check the caliber of any batsman then you have to give him chance to play up the order.” And he did same with Dhoni.
On april 5, 2005 Dhoni got chance to bat up the order against Pakistan. He batted number 3 in that match. And the rest is history. Dhoni scored his first of ten one day international centuries in that match. He played shots in all corners of the ground. The flamboyant Dhoni smashed 15 fours and 4 sixes in his innings and he managed to play a knock of 148 runs from 123 balls.
Few months after that match Dhoni registered his best score in one day internationals against Srilanka. He scored 183*. And because of his continuous good performances in limited over format he got into the Indian test squad as well. He made his test debut in December 2005.
Breakthrough Phase for Dhoni:-

Cricket world cup 2011 was going to held in India. Ms Dhoni cricket carrier took a very lovely turn because of this world cup. Indian team was looking strong as was never before. India started their campaign strongly against Bangladesh. They lost only 1 match which was against south africa in league phase.
But the real test for captain Dhoni and his team was waiting for them. In quarter finals of the world cup India was going to face mighty Australian side. At that time Australia was the world champions. They had won the last three edition of the world cup. It was very much impossible for India to defeat them. But because of Yuvraj Singh’s heroic India defeated Australia and made it to the semifinals.
India faced Pakistan in the semis and won the match easily before going into the finals to face Srilanka. In the final match Srilanka set the target of 274 runs. On the first ball of the second innings man in form virendra sehwag got out and after few overs Sachin Tendulkar was also in the dressing room. Gautam gambhir and virat kohli build up a partnership but unfortunately virat got out too. Everybody thought that Yuvaraj singh who was in form of his life will come to bat but captain Dhoni prompted himself up the order. With Gautam Gambhir, Dhoni made sure that India will win the finals. And everyone remembers his match finishing six.

In 2013 Mahendra singh Dhoni led India to hold ICC champions trophy which was held in England. After this Dhoni became the first and only Indian captain to won all the ICC trophies.
In year 2014 India won the test match against England in Lords. It is also considered as one of the most significant achievement of Dhoni.
In 2014 he step down as the captain of Indian test team and 3 year later in 2017 he decided to step down as the captain of limited over side as well.
Dhoni has been the recipient of many awards, including the ICC ODI Player of the Year award in 2008 and 2009, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 2007, the Padma Shri in 2009 and the Padma Bhushan,in 2018. He was named as the captain of the ICC World Test XI in 2009, 2010 and 2013. He has also been selected a record 8 times in ICC World ODI XI teams, 5 times as captain. The Indian Territorial Army conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel to Dhoni on 1 November 2011.
Unfortunately, 2019 world cup turned out to be end of the Mahendra singh Dhoni’s outstanding international Carrier. Dhoni wanted to end his Carrier by carrying world cup trophy but that doesn’t happened. The 2019 world cup semifinals against new Zealand was the last odi that MS Dhoni played for India. And finally on August 15, 2020 Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from International cricket.
