Coronavirus Strikes India Hard this time, 29 Infections reported

New Delhi, March 4, 2020: For Indians, their worst fear is coming true. Novel Coronavirus has hit India hard this time. In one hand, it is extending arms in the National Capital Region. On the other, famous tourist destinations like Agra and Jaipur are under threat. The onset of the virus happened when a Delhi resident tested positive for the COVID-19  on Monday. He had recently traveled to Italy. Whereas, another infection has been reported from Telangana. With this, now the total number of infections has reached 29.

Infections on rising

Out of the 28 positive coronavirus cases in India, 16 are Italians. A 69-year-old Italian tourist was found infected in Jaipur on Tuesday. Additionally, his wife and 14 other tourists and an Indian driver were also found infected. Their samples were sent to the National Institute of Immunology (NIV), Pune. They have been sent to Indo-Tibetan Border Police’s quarantine facility in Chhawla.

Cases in Delhi

Six family members of the Delhi man were also tested positive. He recently visited them in Agra. When they were traced, it turned up that they all are infected. Recently, a school in Noida postponed the exams. Delhi man’s son was studying in that school. Later it was announced that the school will reopen after it gets completely sanitized.

Gurugram case

Paytm employee in Gurgaon has tested positive for Coronavirus Strikes. The statement regarding the infection was as reported by the company. The company has advised its employees to work from home until further notice.

 Crew to remain in isolation

The Air India crew that flew on the Vienna-Delhi flight on February 25 has been asked to remain in isolation. This is the flight on which the Delhi resident who tested positive arrived in India. The crew has been asked to remain in isolation at their homes for 14 days. In case of developing any symptoms, they’ve also been asked to immediately inform doctors.

 Telangana resident under treatment

A man from Hyderabad recently returned from Dubai. The 24-year-old software engineer works in Bengaluru. Recently he traveled to Dubai to work with his Hong Kong-based colleagues. It is assumed that he contracted the virus from them. Currently, the man is in the isolation ward. He has been admitted to Gandhi Hospital in Telangana’s capital city.

 The world under threat

The coronavirus has been detected in at least 70 countries. So far 90,000 cases and 3,100 deaths have been reported. The virus epidemic began in central China. Eventually, it is shutting down industrial centers, emptying shops and severely hurting economies.

Symptoms

Several symptoms can indicate the infection from the virus. These include runny nose, headache, sore throat, cough, and fever. It can also lead to respiratory infections like pneumonia and bronchitis. These symptoms can appear in a day or two after contracting an infection. Sometimes these remain dormant for around 14 days after the exposure.

Prevention

To prevent coronavirus infection, one should wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. In case of unavailability of soap, hand sanitizer can be used. Also avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Simultaneously, keeping a distance with people who are sick is essential. In case of sickness, one should avoid going to public places as the illness could spread in others. Avoid large gatherings.

In case you get infected

If you notice symptoms of the infection it is better to call the doctor. Also, it is suggested try to avoid contact with others as they can also get infected. It is important that you cover your mouth from the tissue while coughing or sneezing. Keep washing your hands frequently with soap and water. Avoid contact with your body fluids with others. Avail medical treatment and remain isolated till you get cured.
