How to link aadhar to pan – Linking Adhaar to PAN card has now become mandatory. So, if you haven’t linked your Adhaar to PAN, you might end up in trouble. The government has made it mandatory to link Adhaar to PAN to file ITR.
How to Link Aadhar to Pan Overview?
If you are in a confusion whether your Aadhaar is linked to PAN already or not. Then, you can check steps below how to link aadhar to pan.
The first thing you need to do is log in to the website and enter your PAN user id, password and date of birth. Once you log into your account, open the Profile setting tab by clicking on it. Select the last option available which is ‘Link Aadhar’. As soon as you click on ‘Link Aadhaar’ the screen displays a message saying your ”PAN linked to Aadhar number xxx”.
If in case, your PAN is not linked to Aadhaar then, fill the form available. As soon as it appears you have to enter your details like name, date of birth but keep in mind fill every detail as per PAN records. Then, type the Aadhaar number and click on the button submit.
The message will be displayed on your screen saying ”Aadhar is linked to PAN card.”
For All the Non Registered Users
If you are a non-registered user or you haven’t registered yourself at e-filing website then, there is another way to link your Aadhaar to PAN.
You need to visit the Income Tax e-filing website. There is a hyperlink available at the home page; you have to click on ‘Link Aadhaar’ on the e-website. A completely new form will appear on the screen.
You have to fill your details regarding. If your Aadhaar Card only has the year of birth then, click on the option that ‘’I have only year of birth in Aadhaar card’’. Once you click on submit button, a message will prompt up on your screen saying ‘’PAN is successfully linked to Aadhaar’’.
What are Other Methods?
Apart from these two, there are other methods as well from which you can link your Aadhaar to PAN. If you fail to link your Aadhaar to Pan using a website then, there are other ways which will help you out.
You can send a simple SMS to link your Aadhaar to Pan. You have to send SMS to your PAN Service Providers.
Send SMS to 567678 for 56 161 in the following formats.
UIDPAN<SPACE><12digitAadhaar><SPACE><10digitPAN>
There is no service fee applied by PAN service provider but the SMS charges are applicable.
For manual procedure
You need to fill a form which is there in annexure 1. Attach your supporting documents like photocopy to your Aadhaar and PAN Card. This service is not free like online services for this you need to pay a fee that is prescribed.
The fee depends on the work, for instance, if there is any correction in Pan and Aadhaar details then, charges may vary.
If you want to do any correction in your pan details you need to pay 110 and for any correction in Aadhaar, you need to pay 25.
How to Link Aadhar to Pan Tips to Remember
Whether you are filing an online or offline, there are a few points that you need to keep in mind.
1) In case your Aadhaar name doesn’t match with your PAN card name but your date of birth and gender matches. Then, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. All you need to do is enter the OTP and complete your linking process.
2) In any case, your Aadhar Card details and your pan card details don’t match with each other than try to correct them before linking the two cards.
3) If you are an NRI, it is mandatory to link your Aadhaar to PAN as well.
Do remember if you don’t link your PAN with Aadhaar then, you won’t be able to conduct any of your financial transaction using PAN. It is made compulsory by the government to link Aadhaar with pan till 30th June 2020. If you fail to do that within the date mentioned then you won’t be able to fill your ITR. Don’t miss the deadline otherwise, your PAN card will go inoperative.
